President Bush jokes with a reporter about if he is going to keep his sunglasses on during the interview...The reporter is actually Blind.

well i dont know if he’s really blind or not but how come he looks at the microphone before he reaches out to grab it perfectly. It’s not put in his hand
Well, you may think that he’s stupid, but this actually happened here in Ireland and it even got a small mention in tha newspapers:
An American was standing at a pedestrian crossing, and when the cars stopped and the noise that tells blind people that it’s safe to cross started to beep, the American asked a passer-by what it was for and the passer-by responded “That’s for the blind people” and the American responded “Wow! You let blind people drive in Ireland.?!?”

If he doesn’t know the reporter, Bush is an asshole for asking that question to the man in shades. Blind or not, who cares about wearing sunglasses when you address someone like 100 feet away, someone who called you by your first name (Peter). The least I find it is is disrespectful from Bush, if not old fashioned and even retarded to think like that.
It can also be a little joke between the two guys knowing each other. After all, why the hell bush would know this reporter’s first name?

First of, I don’t follow America’s politics so I wouldn’t know if Bush sucks or not (actually kinda funny that he got picked for ANOTHER 4 years and that now everybody hates him, they picked bush again themselves, lol) but bush couldn’t know the media is dumb enough to send a blind reporter, just a trick I guess to make him look like an ass while the media is the ass in here. And he wasn’t totally blind so he could just put his shades off.

Yes, perhaps. But here’s the thing… Let’s say my vision is just slightly blurry, is it fair for me to get to park in the handicap zone for just crappy vision? They say legally blind (yes, legally blind people can drive perfectly safe with the appropriate lenses, depending on what their level of blind is) so that there’s a standard to go by. Also, legally blind people can’t serve in the military. There’s legal reasons for it; it doesn’t affect you, so don’t complain, lol.
So then you have “crappy vision”. Plain and simple. No need for fancy language and terms like legally blind. Who made this crap up? The english language pisses me off sometimes. All they do is put fancy names for things to make them sound more important than they really are.
Legally blind is a technicality. See, when you’re “blind” you can’t see at all. When you’re legally blind, your eyesight is bad enough that it can’t be corrected, and can be considered a legal handicap, in which case you can use special bonuses awarded only to handicaps.

i dont think he is a reporter. i think he is someone from the news that just goes and gets info for the news comp.. not sure tho.
You don’t seem to know the proper definition of blindness. Unless the eyeballs are removed, most people dubbed blind in casual language have some remaining perception of light and hence of motion, though blurred and 2-dimensional. So he may be able to recognize something handed to him, or read his cellphone (w/ zoom software) if held directly before his eyes, but still be severely handicapped in life. And shades are just a polite way to not irritate others with one’s aimlessly trembling eyes.

I would think that being a blind reporter would be difficult. He certainly wouldn’t ever be a news anchor…he wouldn’t be able to read the teleprompter.
